When Does a Spark Burst into Flame?

Apparently the revival that now appears to be spreading beyond the Asbury University campus. With videos going viral on TikTok and Instagram some of the mainstream media outlets like the Washington Examiner and NBC are also taking note.
I watch this with great interest for several reasons: I have been praying for revival for quite some time, I see signs of an increased interest in matters of spirituality and truth in the people I rub shoulders with day to day, and I’ve been told that historically America has experienced some level of revival every 60 years or so indicating that the time is about right.

Zach Kincaid cites 5 Great American Revivals in an article found on the ShareFaith Magazine blog, the most recent one ending around 1970. This coincidentally is also the last time there was such an event at Asbury University as well. It would seem, therefore, that many of the signs point to this possibly being the next “great revival” that God will pour out on America, and perhaps even globally as social media carries it beyond geographical borders.

Will this little flame that now burns bright grow into an unstoppable blaze? I personally hope and pray that it does. But ultimately, the most important question that remains is, “Has it reached you and I?” I would never intentionally presume to limit God to a certain means of revival, but it would appear to me that historically revival typically begins when an individual person submitting to the movement of the the Holy Spirit within their own heart, and spreading to others from there.

In times such as this, we tend to look around and point fingers at how far the world has fallen away from God. While that may be an accurate observation, the most important question to ask ourselves may well be, “How far have I fallen away from God, and is what might God be doing in my own heart?”
