When does a conspiracy theory become a real conspiracy?

Some might say the answer to that question is, “when it starts raining”, but I beg to differ.  Let me back up a little, okay maybe a lot. We gotta go back to the story of Noah and the great flood in Genesis 6 and 7. Whether you believe this is an actual historical account, or an allegorical tale does not alter the point the story makes about conspiracy theories. In Genesis 6 God tells Noah that the earth is going to be destroyed by a world wide flood and that all of humanity and animal life will die, and that he, along with his family and a single pair of each species of animal life while be preserved in a massive floating zoo, which God will instruct Noah how to build. In other words, there’s a great reset coming and you, Noah,  have been chosen to be the new beginning. My guess is that in Genesis 6 Noah was laughed at and mocked and probably called a crazy old conspiracy theorist by pretty much everyone beyond his immediate family.

I’m thinking this mocking and laughing went on the whole time he was building that boat, not only because of what Noah was saying about a flood, but because probably nobody had seen a boat that size before. It might be similar to Elon Musk claiming he’s going to start a human colony on Mars because the earth is going to become uninhabitable due to uncontrollable climate changes. A lot of us are laughing at him too, but that’s a different story for another time.

Noah perseveres and finishes the project, and God gathers all the animals and shuts the door at the beginning of chapter seven. I can imagine it created quite a stir in the community, and that the jeering and laughing continued right up until the rain started to fall, and water started bursting up out of the ground. At that point I suspect the jeering turned into terrified shrieking and attempts to try to get into, or onto the boat. And the end of the forty days of rain, all the shrieking and crying had been tragically silenced. Noah and his family were alone with the animals on an endless ocean of water in every direction. About three years later the water had receded, the boat had ran aground, and the great reset was complete.

So, when did Noah’s conspiracy theory turn into an actual conspiracy? The truth is, it was never a conspiracy. It was always the truth, and only those who believed it to be a conspiracy (which in this case was the vast majority) ended up on the short end of the stick. This is unfortunately the way it is in every instance when something that is framed by the majority to be a conspiracy theory turns out to be the truth rather than a false theory.

I believe that in every case there are also significant signs along the way that might cause some who initially believe something to be a false theory to begin to question their conclusions. In the case of Noah, I can imagine that when animals started showing up and going into the boat without putting up too much of a fuss, it might have cause some of those who initially mocked to begin to question. When Noah and his family finally went into the boat and the door closed from the outside by some mysterious “hand of God”, that might have stilled a few more mockers. The truth has an annoyingly persistent way of eventually becoming evident for all to see. So I guess all this is to say, be careful what, and more importantly who, you put your trust in. History is chock full of people who gained the trust of masses of people under the pretense of protecting them and keeping them safe, only to later discover, as history reveals, that they were being led to a slaughter.

We live in dangerous times, truth is hard to find, most mass media outlets have ulterior motives and can’t be trusted to tell the truth, the nation is sharply divided over things that don’t make sense, but the Truth has not changed. The Truth is still the Truth, and can be found by those who seek Him. (yes I did say “Him” not “it”) When we find, and trust in the Truth, the fear begins to recede, and hope begins to have a chance again… …trust me… no, don’t trust me, do the research yourself, seek the truth, find the Truth, and trust the Truth.
